Unable to attach files in chat

Question

I have just upgraded to a Microsoft Business 365 so I can use the full functionality of Teams. However, I don't appear to have the ability to attach files or screengrabs in a chat. The attachment icon isn't present.

I am trying to chat to an external client. Can anyone help?

A workaround for an image is to convert it to .png, copy and paste it from the open file in Paint
