Teams Planner Duplication

Does anyone know if you can duplicate Microsoft Teams Planners for onboarding tasks? I am trying to create an easily replicable Teams Planner with links to files in Sharepoint folders, for example. I want to be able to copy this planner for each new hire and have a copy of all the files and planner tasks in the new copy. Any advice or expertise would be much appreciated!

    Hi madelinebratt ,

Best option is to create an empty skeleton plan and when you want to create a plan for a new hire, select the copy from within Planner

I'm using this myself but I did not test with links or embedded files though.

    I hope this helps ?

Ok, I just checked and you select to copy the attachments in the next screen in the copy feature

So unfortunately Planner doesnt have a native "duplicate entire plan" feature that also copies the linked SharePoint files. What most people end up doing is using Power Automate to clone the plan structure, but you still have to deal with the file links manually which is annoying.

For onboarding specifically tho, we switched to using Teamflect inside Teams. We initially used it just for the surveys but we found we could automate onboarding tasks in it too. We just create onboarding task groups for each department and they are assigned automatically. We used it side-by-side with planner for a while and eventually gave up on planner.

If you really want to stick with Planner, the Power Automate route is probably your best bet. There are some decent templates in the connector library for cloning plans.
