Teams Phone system SIP Gateway (Hot Desk)
Hi Andyshan,
Hot Desking is a feature allowing multiple users to utilize a single physical phone device. Users can sign in to access their personalized settings and sign out when finished.
This is especially beneficial in workplaces where employees lack assigned desks and may move around to different workspaces.
In the context of Microsoft Teams, hot desking can be enabled on Teams Displays. It necessitates two account types:
- Resource account: Utilized by the Teams Display for the hot desking experience and space booking.
- User account: Used by the individual who booked the Teams Display to sign in and access their account and settings.
Regarding the Yealink T46U series handsets, they are compatible with Microsoft Teams using the SIP Gateway.
The SIP Gateway facilitates the connection of handsets with Teams telephony.
In terms of extension numbers and PINs, Microsoft Teams supports extension dialing.
A Normalization Rule can be set up in the Dial plans section of the Microsoft Teams Admin center to allow entering a number and establishing a rule that adds an extension code. The format for extension calling from an Auto Attendant is +123456789;ext=789.
It's important to note that the extension should match the number (e.g., +123456789 with extension 6789). Microsoft Teams prefers using names, so encouraging users to call by name might be more effective.
