Teams Meeting Time Defaults to 24 Hours When Using the Teams Add-in for Outlook
When creating a Teams meeting via the Outlook Add-inn, the time defaults to 24 hours. Can this be changed?

8/2024 and this is still a problem. Ugh...

Okay everyone, let's get this fixed.
In Outlook, on the Help tab of the ribbon, click on the Contact Support button. In the box that opens up, copy and paste the text below:
When I have the Month view of the Calendar open and I click on the New Teams Meeting button, instead of using the "Default duration of new appointments and meetings" from my settings like the "New Appointment" button does, the duration of the new meeting is 24 hours. This has been going on for over a year and is affecting multiple users worldwide as documented at https: //techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/microsoft-teams/teams-meeting-time-defaults-to-24-hours-when-using-the-teams-add/m-p/1255643.
- Peter_M_354Copper ContributorThe proposed text exceeds the character limit for me in Contact Support. The following is almost the same with a few characters to spare:
When in Calendar Month View, New Teams Meeting defaults to 24 hours. https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/microsoft-teams/teams-meeting-time-defaults-to-24-hours-when-using-the-teams-add/m-p/1255643/
- J05HICopper ContributorI'm not sure if anyone has mentioned this workaround yet, but use the New Meeting option instead of the New Teams Meeting option, then in the new meeting, click on Teams Meeting in the ribbon to change it to a Teams meeting. This way it keeps the defaults from Outlook.
- JoshYarberCopper ContributorI came here to add my workaround as well.
1. Click "New Teams Meeting"
2. Tick the box for "All day"
3. Untick the same box.
Viola, same Start/End Date. Decent workaround until MS is able to add the default config settings.- MrQDudeCopper ContributorI love the work around, thank you.
But it is totally disgusting that the first post in this thread was a year and a half ago ... and Microsoft still can't fix this bug ... that is pathetic.

same problem, very annoying!
- i-hate-bugsCopper ContributorThis bug has been around now for over 12 months. There is absolutely no excuse why it's not been fixed, other than, whoever is in charge of teams/outlook bug fixing is incompetent and should be moved to office tea person.

This is an annoying bug. A work-around it to switch from Month to Week or Day view.

cndavis80 I honestly do not understand why this bug has not been resolved... ITS BEEN 7 MONTHS! I discovered it last week while scheduling a meeting with one of my clients... very embarrassing. Switching to week view to create an invite is annoying AF.
- DuanneCopper ContributorI don't think these Tech Forums are ever read. You'd think there would at least be one post from MS by now stating it's now on a Sprint Plan or to low an issue to put right - ANYTHING but SILENCE!

Hello Duanne PrimiTec_Solutions
This forum is primarily for users to share ideas, best practices and real-world solutions for using Teams; it's rare that a Microsoft person will respond because people like VasilMichev are certified MVPs and are as knowledgeable (if not moreso) than most users or Microsoft engineers.
The primary way to report a bug or request a feature is through the Uservoice feedback forum, and from my research on that site, this bug was never reported. If you'd like to do that, then others can vote on it and that's the best way to get the attention of the development team and receive updates on the status of the bug fix.
Finally, if anyone requires personalized tech support, we suggest that they go to answers.microsoft.com, which is staffed by Microsoft people and contractors. I hope this helps clarify the various resources available to Teams users. Thank you for being a member of the community.

I can confirm also, this problem is when using the month view.
- Ryan SteeleBronze Contributor
The issue occurs when the Outlook calendar is in month view.
I'm able to reproduce the issue as follows.
- Launch Outlook and navigate to the Calendar view
- Choose "Month" from the "Arrange" section of the ribbon
- Click the "New Teams Meeting" button in the ribbon
Expected result:
A new Meeting window opens with a start time and end time corresponding to the "Default duration for new appointments and meetings" set in Outlook Options > Calendar
Actual result:
A new Meeting window opens with a start time of 12:00am on today's date, and an end time of 12:00am the following day

We have the same issue here. Thank you Ryan Steele for sharing your findings and thank you ChristianBergstrom for your tip to use the Feedback tool in the Outlook client to report it.

You're welcome, GreatToHearFromYou. I would recommend also sending feedback from within the Teams app (from the Help button in the lower-left).

Any update on this? I had some embarrasment today caused by the default to a 24 hr Teams meeting. Settings are 30mins in Outlook Calendar.

C_Thorne82 Hi, and thanks for the heads up! I'd forgotten about this. Just now installed Version 2008 (Build 13127.20296) Current channel and it's still an "issue" using the Monthly view (meaning defaults to 24 hours). I thought it was fixed.
View:
Day - 30 min
Work Week - 30 min
Week - 30 min
Month - 24 hours
Schedule View - 30 min

I just wanted to add that I have the same problem. Mostly it is annoying, embarrassing, and wastes peoples time.
I have gone through all the known remedies without success as well. I'm sure it will be fixed in their next update.

Same issue. Would be nice to have the default 30 minutes or an hour. 24 hours is uncommon for a meeting.
