Teams is KILLING my Mac Every Day
- Jul 14, 2022
Hi everyone, we're pleased to announce Microsoft Teams for Apple Silicon, which on the M1/M2 ARM builds, will have significantly faster performance than what's seen during the Rosetta emulation today! Here's our official roadmap ID for this release; Microsoft 365 Roadmap | Microsoft 365. More on this can be found here; Announcing Microsoft Teams optimized for Apple silicon - Microsoft Tech Community.
Users should see a significant performance boost with this release. And for the Intel Macs out there, we're still thinking about you! We have some large performance fixes coming that will help improve overall performance for the Intel version as well.
Thanks,
Sam Cosby, Teams Engineering PM
shilocase : I am a community manager for Microsoft Teams. Your post has been forwarded to the team and someone should reach out to you. I've updated the title of your post to stay within our community guidelines.
JohnSteckroth I am also encountering an identical issue.
Build Info:
MacBook Pro (16-inch, 2021)
Chip - Apple M1 Max / 32GB RAM / 1TB SSD
OS - 12.5.1
Microsoft Teams Version 1.4.00.34557. It was last updated on 1/20/22.
Issues Experienced
1. System Lag and Poor Responsiveness - The machine will eventually, with few or no applications open, build up substantial amounts of Swap Memory. This is cleared after a restart of the system and doesn't occur if Teams is not used.
2. When attempting to update it provides notice "We will check and install any updates while you continue to work."
However after attempting as I'm writing this is no update is found and no notification is given.
I can see that I am many revisions behind however manually installing has not resolved the issues experienced.

jwelch turn on the beta channel if you aren’t getting the latest universal binary. It’s a lot better, though most people using the new version at my shop are getting random kick outs, it still bests the previous experience.
