Teams is KILLING my Mac Every Day
- Jul 14, 2022
Hi everyone, we're pleased to announce Microsoft Teams for Apple Silicon, which on the M1/M2 ARM builds, will have significantly faster performance than what's seen during the Rosetta emulation today! Here's our official roadmap ID for this release; Microsoft 365 Roadmap | Microsoft 365. More on this can be found here; Announcing Microsoft Teams optimized for Apple silicon - Microsoft Tech Community.
Users should see a significant performance boost with this release. And for the Intel Macs out there, we're still thinking about you! We have some large performance fixes coming that will help improve overall performance for the Intel version as well.
Thanks,
Sam Cosby, Teams Engineering PM

This has been around for at least six weeks now, and out of frustration, I decided to download and install it.
For now, it appears to have solved my issues with lag and overheating.
Bear in mind that is it still a Beta release, but it might just help you too:

Have you tried the latest osx-arm64 builds?
These builds can be downloaded from https://github.com/ItzLevvie/MicrosoftTeams-msinternal/blob/master/defconfig#L17- AphonicnoiseJun 24, 2022Brass Contributor
Lmntryx- yes, and the video didn't work. It was like a 3d movie with no glasses (m1pro MacBook 16") It was definitely way more responsive, but at this point in the interest of EVERY mac user Microsoft would be better served by bringing parity to the web app and allowing us all features as an edge app. Even if the Apple Silicon works better for those of us with Apple silicon, Teams is a train wreck on intel hardware.

Microsoft
These builds are still in pre-release, these are not yet marked or signed by us. If you decide to use, use at your own risk. I do not recommend using builds that are not directly signed and released by us.
We're still in the process of gathering an update to share. Once we have it, I'll post here.- Boss_429Jun 28, 2022Copper ContributorWe continue to have users on MacBooks that cannot participate productively in Teams meetings. Please, please, please... What is it going to take for MS to get Teams fixed for Macs???
Users are clamoring for Zoom because MS cannot get there @#$@ together.
