Teams Delivers a Slack Migration Tool

Microsoft announced the availability of a Slack to Teams migration tool in the Microsoft 365 admin center. The new tool exists to assist the 79 million monthly active users of Slack who might want to move to Teams and don’t know how to get there. ISVs have been helping people move off Slack to Teams for years, so other migration options exist.

  • Good flag, Tony. Worth noting the native tool (still in preview per the roadmap) currently handles channel messages and files well, but DMs, private channel history, and third-party app/integration mapping remain gaps which is exactly where ISVs still add value.

We've been running Slack to Teams migrations at Netwoven for a while now, and the pattern we see: the native tool is a solid fit for smaller, straightforward moves, while orgs with complex governance requirements, active M&A/tenant consolidation, or heavy DM/private-channel volume still lean on a managed migration partner for the extra control and consent workflows.

Curious to see how General Availability scope shifts once it's out of preview, especially on metadata retention.
