Paul_Savenije My problem is solved.
I had to call the support for another problem. Solving it made all the avatars come back in MS Teams.
My account had a problem with its roles.
I'm one of the admnistrators of my organisation, another admin messed up my roles. I had ALL roles activated.
One of them is "General Administrator" wich already gives all privileges.
Activating "General Administrator" + all the others roles caused a bug in MS Exchange.
To solve the problem, the support guy made me ask another admin to do these steps in the users administration panel:
- Open my user details.
- In the roles part, make my user a simple user (with no admin privilege) then save.
- Make my user admin back again, then choosing only the "General Administrator" role, and save.
This solved all my problems, wich were:
- Redirect loop while trying to connect to MS Outlook and MS Exchange with my browser.
- MS Teams App default avatars for all users and groups.
- MS Teams App critical slowdowns and crashes.
Hope this helps 🙂

Hi,
I have exactly the same problem, and also tested various manipulations to solve it...
The problem came first on newly created groups, then to some users avatar. Day by day I were losing more avatars.
- Tried to reset Teams Cache (by deleting some folders): problem not solved.
- Tried to uninstall / reinstall Teams: problem not solved.
- Figured out uninstall had left some folders, uninstalled again, deleted remaining folders, reinstall: problem got WORSE, lost ALL avatars.
Some times while I'm in meeting and share my screen, some avatars come back in the floating meeting window, but once I stop sharing avatars disappear again...
I've searched all the Internet for a solution, I've found none...
Looks like Teams App tries to download avatars, but get 403 error.
Sometimes a "broken image" icon appears quickly before the gray one appears.
(I've seen that sometimes using teams in a browser, the console says 403...)

Dear Microsoft,
I have been experiencing this same issue for over a year now, and the steps provided in various community posts have not been helpful. Although I have tried all the suggested steps, including deleting the local cache and reinstalling the application, none of them have resolved the issue.
The only thing that works is to never close Teams and lock my machine or to load Teams twice. Whenever I reboot any machine, the avatars break, and I have to launch Teams twice to fix the issue. This occurs every time I open Teams for the first time or if I completely quit Teams and reopen it.
As I mostly use Teams for one-on-one or scheduled chats and video conferences, I do not have admin rights to the Teams admin center. Therefore, the steps that require admin access are not applicable to my situation.
I believe that the issue stems from a bug in the electron code, which needs to be fixed. This has been a persistent problem for me since and update in 2022, and I am hoping that Microsoft will address it soon.

Thanks - that worked. A couple of extra steps I did helped
1) Make User Simple/Standard User - No Admin Roles
2) Sign out and Quite Teams
3) Clear my local Teams Cache
4) Launch Teams - All Good
5) Maker User Global Admin (If user does not need to be Global admin, only assign required Admin roles)
