Start a new chat thread every time there's a new chat

Hi All,

How can I start a new private chat Thread with a person that I chatted before without seeing the past conversation history; in other words when I start a new thread I don't want to see the previous chat history I had with that person. I did a lot of researches, but I can't seem to find a good response.

Thanks

  • Hi Tinsae,

Teams chat is persistent, it's retained, you cannot turn it off. Therefore what you ask for is not feasible, it's by design.

You can either delete your own messages manually (which is not the most effective method) or if you have a work account, you can ask your IT department to create a specific retention policy for you to delete chat messages after a specified duration.

Burak_Varol I appreciate your response. I have looked at the retention, but before I apply that I wanted to check if there's a work around.

      Thanks
