SMS in Microsoft Teams

I have seen hundreds of requests for SMS/MMS inside MS teams. Users wanted to be able to send & receive SMS from teams. Some even wanted both calling & SMS in one number.

Also, some users asked if they could bring in their existing teams number or other number or use a new number on teams for sending & receiving SMS/MMS.

I am here to help all of you with a small information.

You can send & receive SMS/MMS in real time from your teams account. You can enable calling on that number. You can use your existing teams number, bring in your number or take a new number.

You can do all these. And it's possible with a small integration. If you use clerk chat you will be able to do everything mentioned above.

I am enjoying my experience at its fullest. I am even using MFA number to get all types of verification codes inside teams.

If this is something you need, you can check them out.

Thank me later.

I want to thank this community for bringing everyone in one platform. That's how I could share this information with you all.

Microsoft does not offer texting in Microsoft E5 or any Office 365 license and it's been on the roadmap for years.  We developed a simple and familiar app to allow a Teams user to send SMS (text) in Teams.  You can port your existing Teams number, or assign new numbers in Teams for sending & receiving SMS/MMS as well as shortcodes, Two Factor Authentication (2FA) or some call it Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA). All the group (MMS) texting is supported just like any other mobile phone.

Works in the Android and iPhone mobile app

    And all Desktop Teams versions.

Keep in mind that this is a Person to Person (P2P) testing-only service, and Application to Person (A2P) texting is not permitted on Evolve numbers.  We do not offer a "texting only" service.   Texting is only supported when subscribed to as a Voice and Text bundle.  Voice only is always an option.

IftyMM_06 I read your article about being able to send and receive SMS from Teams. How is this implemented?  Do I need a special app?

In the US Evolve Cellular offers a service where you to send and receive text messages and make phone calls from the SAME number in Microsoft Teams. Check out this YouTube video, https://cutt.ly/How_to_send_a_text_and_make_a_phone_call_with_Evolve_Cellular_Texting_and_Voice_for_Microsoft_Teams s . 1. Make a phone call from your Microsoft Teams account. 2. Send a text message from your SAME voice number in Microsoft Teams.

Yes, you can bring your existing Microsoft Teams Number or port in a number and then Text and Call from the SAME number.

Visit evolvecellular.com/texting-for-business you can also call or text 833-TXT-TEAM / 833-898-8326

Thank you for sharing this information with the community, it's great to hear about options for integrating SMS/MMS with Microsoft Teams!

I'm glad to hear that you are enjoying your experience with Clerk Chat and that it's meeting your needs for sending and receiving SMS/MMS and enabling calling on your number. It's also great to hear that you're able to use your MFA number for verification codes inside Teams.

For others who may be interested in this integration, it's helpful to know that Clerk Chat is a third-party app that provides this functionality. It's always important to carefully evaluate third-party apps before integrating them with your Microsoft Teams account and to ensure that they meet your organization's security and compliance requirements.

Thank you again for sharing this information and contributing to the community!
