Setting up Champions network en mass - 500+ users in 2 months

Hi there,

I am IT Project Manager working at BCP Council, circa 6000 employees and looking to onboard 500 Champions early June to help rollout out Teams to rest of organization in July.

I would be eager to hear of anyone who has rolled out a similar size, within these timescales, resources you needed and approach used.

Many thanks

  • Hi Kelly_Barnes ,

Sounds like a reasonable plan, I would say that maybe 250 champions is quite a large number to get up to speed in a month before rollout, you wouldn't even be able to get them all into one meeting. Microsoft provide a lot of resources to support you at https://aka.ms/MicrosoftAdoption and there is a dedicated forum on here at https://aka.ms/o365champions . Hi Kelly_Barnes,

Actually it all depends on the dynamics/variables at your end, like company's needs, champions' technical backgrounds/levels, expectations from end-users about Teams, etc... Therefore there cannot be any specific or certain answers to your question.

Anyway I believe these actions would help:

    • Have a certain team to bring all these champions together in one collaborative group.
    • Hold regular meetings to educate them about the fundamentals and basic features of Teams. Gamification is also a must.
    • Listen to them actively and use Forms for surveying purposes to understand the points/needs that Teams can address in your company which would make the adoption much more easier and help breaking specific users' resistances against Teams.
    • Use Planner/To-Do to assign them tasks for adoption purposes and keep track of how they involve their colleagues in.
    • Record short and educative videos with them and share with others, etc...

    Regards,
    Burak V.
