Teams is KILLING my Mac Every Day
I have a hard time believing I'm the first person to post this after not finding anything in the forum. I wouldn't doubt if Microsoft is deleting them because they can't figure out how to fix this i...

Hi everyone, we're pleased to announce Microsoft Teams for Apple Silicon, which on the M1/M2 ARM builds, will have significantly faster performance than what's seen during the Rosetta emulation today! Here's our official roadmap ID for this release; Microsoft 365 Roadmap | Microsoft 365. More on this can be found here; Announcing Microsoft Teams optimized for Apple silicon - Microsoft Tech Community.
Users should see a significant performance boost with this release. And for the Intel Macs out there, we're still thinking about you! We have some large performance fixes coming that will help improve overall performance for the Intel version as well.
Thanks,
Sam Cosby, Teams Engineering PM

Zoom has had significant security issues and as a result is prohibited in a large number of organisations. They’re a tiny company relatively speaking, they obfuscate billing and licensing, they don’t work with charities in any meaningful way, their gdpr compliance is questionable in my opinion and on and on. But yes, it works better on Mac than teams does, significantly. They do however need to prioritise audio over video and they are missing some blatant administration options, and again, the obfuscate billing and licensing in what I consider to be a dishonest way.
Put all of that together when dealing with banks and governments and it’s a poor solution.

It is hard to argue with your comments. I tend to work with smaller entities and these issues are not as critical. However, I am not sure you could level the same criticisms at Google meetings. The fact is MS has failed to provide a unified comms package that is interoperable across OSs.
There are other issues not commented on here. I am involved with some larger enterprises that hold large meetings. The solution puts pressure on the enterprise network and users are all required to turn off video, so Teams becomes a conference call function with only the chair and presenter on video. This has been quite common through Covid, particularly with Civic authorities that have large meetings. Some have fixed it others not. And the UI is a bit limited.
My solution with an older Mac was to buy a depreciated MS Surface for $100 from one of my companies. It runs Teams just fine and I got to play with MS again. Windows integrates very well with iCloud too!! Not so well with calendar. I now have a new M1 Mac and no more problems. However one local authority still has me turn off my camera for large meetings. Fortunately we are mostly going face to face now.
