Teams is KILLING my Mac Every Day
- Jul 14, 2022
Hi everyone, we're pleased to announce Microsoft Teams for Apple Silicon, which on the M1/M2 ARM builds, will have significantly faster performance than what's seen during the Rosetta emulation today! Here's our official roadmap ID for this release; Microsoft 365 Roadmap | Microsoft 365. More on this can be found here; Announcing Microsoft Teams optimized for Apple silicon - Microsoft Tech Community.
Users should see a significant performance boost with this release. And for the Intel Macs out there, we're still thinking about you! We have some large performance fixes coming that will help improve overall performance for the Intel version as well.
Thanks,
Sam Cosby, Teams Engineering PM
Users are clamoring for Zoom because MS cannot get there @#$@ together.
Boss_429 yeh Zoom is way better. It allows you to have a second screen so you can look at a presentation and also the presenter. It also has individual chat and better functionality. The only hassle is having to open the App to organise a meeting rather than doing it directly in 365.
Time for IT folk to let go their MS obsession and us Apps like Zoom.

NZPACMAN Which company would change all their software base because a minority of employees using Apple computers are having trouble with a unique buggy application?
To use Zoom, Google Metting, or another app is not a solution if all the company is based on Microsoft software.
- mikefishtankJun 29, 2022Copper ContributorI'm not sure saying Apple users are a minority is a fair assessment.
In our case the entire company uses mac and the only reason we moved to Teams is because we had a new senior member of staff join the company that whinged and said "We used Teams at my old work!". So there are much weaker reasons for changing your companies entire software than just the software being buggy.
In an era of technology where OS should not matter anymore, Microsoft have dropped the ball massively with this. The size of this thread is testament to that and this issue should have been rectified a lot sooner.- NZPACMANJun 29, 2022Brass ContributorAgreed. An enterprise needs to talk to its customers, suppliers and stakeholders, even if. The have a Mac.

No organisation runs on entirely MS software. Most business have applications for specific purposes, ERPs etc. Some don't have MS at all.
The value of Teams is that it integrates with 365 to provide allegedly seamless communication solution for users. The problem is most organisations communicate with other organisations and people. Suppliers and customers and other stakeholders. I am a professional director. I do not sit inside the corporate networks. I don't even have a Business Teams account. So I can join Teams meetings so long as I am not logged into Teams. Weird huh. And I have an Apple. A communications solution which does not communicate well outside the organisation is, well, not a solution. If MS can't fix it they should be recommending Zoom. It does work.
I have an organisation which uses Google cloud and Google Apps for the desktop. Not ERP. No onsite servers, everything is in the cloud. A lot of creative people so a lot of Macs. They should be able to join conversations with partners who are on MS seamlessly. Google meetings works fine as does Zoom. An Apple phone talks to a Sami phone. Teams does not play with Apple, not a solution till fixed. It's not all about the company. Suppliers and customers count too! And directors.- AphonicnoiseJun 29, 2022Brass ContributorZoom has had significant security issues and as a result is prohibited in a large number of organisations. They’re a tiny company relatively speaking, they obfuscate billing and licensing, they don’t work with charities in any meaningful way, their gdpr compliance is questionable in my opinion and on and on. But yes, it works better on Mac than teams does, significantly. They do however need to prioritise audio over video and they are missing some blatant administration options, and again, the obfuscate billing and licensing in what I consider to be a dishonest way.
Put all of that together when dealing with banks and governments and it’s a poor solution.

NZPACMAN you can install a zoom plugin to outlook to be able to book zoom meetings right in calendar.
- NZPACMANJun 28, 2022Brass ContributorBeautiful. So why are we still using Teams now?
