Office family registration MS Teams
- May 21, 2020
The Home and Student licenses do not include Microsoft Teams, no. There is no add-on option for Teams stand-alone for your family plan you currently have. However, this is soon going to change as early as next month and Teams will be part of your M365 license.
Until then, you have a couple of options:
- You can use the free version of Microsoft Teams and wait a month for the full Teams functionality as part of your M365 license
- You can switch to a business license: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/compare-all-microsoft-365-products?=&rtc=1&activetab=tab:primaryr1 & more detail: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/MicrosoftTeams/e1-trial-license
I hope that helps.

We just signed up for family and I'm trying to set up teams (for free) with my outlook email and I select for family and friends and then it takes me to Sign up for Skype. Skye audio and video calls help you stay connected with friends and family. To use Teams, someone at your work or school needs to set it up.
I've been chatting with support for about 45 minutes and he spoke to a supervisor, apparently it should work but even after viewing my screen finally recommended I try the Forum.

Already gives an exact date when teams become part of the Microsoft 365 Family and can be used.
