New Add Shortcut feature: Unable to open shortcut in Teams Desktop

I've created a shortcut to a file with the new "Add Shortcut" in the item menu in teams. The shortcut is working in Teams browser version or SharePoint when I click on it (it open the souce file) but not in teams desktop. Any idea how to resolve this? 

When trying to open the link from teams desktop, it tries to open the url file and then it asks to download the url file...
