Microsoft Teams - Creating a Team but not sharing

Hello, we are using Microsoft teams in school but I need to make a change to a number of class's. At present we do not have auto sync setup so we have to make classes ourselves.

Is it possible to create a channel and add the students without it telling them until I authorize it?

We have half-term coming up so I want to archive the old channels and 'authorize' or show the new channels all at the same time.

I know when the SIMS to Teams sync was working we had to authorize the channel before anyone could see it but is this possible when manually entering names?
