Link to open a teams chat to me

Hello - does this method still work? Teams hyper link to invite someone to chat. - Microsoft Community Hub I have tried it but no luck - noted it was old and Teams has had lots of changes so maybe it doesn't work anymore? Or is there another way to provide anyone (external to my organisation) with a link that they can use to chat with me?
