Link preview does not work

How does the link preview work? For some links it shows a preview - text and a thumbnail. But for some links it doesn't. 

 

I want to post a link from a SharePoint site (news/site page) where the preview is visible (text and thumbnail). Is it possible? When I post a link now no preview is visible. Example link:

    Hi Akourt320 ,

     

    If I understand you right - when you paste a link to a file into a page in SharePoint there is no associated preview or thumbnail of the link. You can achieve something similar by adding a file viewer webpart to a page where you would see the file and even be able to scroll through the pages/tabs/slides.
