"last owner of private channel cannot be removed" error

Hi All,

I don't know if anyone has experienced this problem, I have a member of a Team and when I go to remove him from the team I get the following:

Last owner of private channel cannot be removed

The member you’re trying to remove is the last owner of at least one private channel. There has to be at least one other owner of the channel for you to remove them from the team.

There are no private channels in the Team and he is not a member of any private channels. There are other owners in the Team.

Any suggestions?

  • Are you sure there aren’t any private ones but that you are not aware of since you aren’t a member of it? Look into the Teams settings and the channels tab and see if you see any there!

      Hi adam deltinger

Thank you for your response. I am a Trainer and during a course I added this member to a Team. There was a Private Channel but he is not an owner (or even a member of it!). He has never been an owner of ANY channel. Your suggestion was great and I had a look anyway but nothing there.

        Hi JohnKelly ,

As adam deltinger said have you looked in the Teams Admin centre, you will need to have that role against your account. Presumably if you haven't turned off the ability for members to create channels then he could have created a private channel as part of the training which only he sees.

        Hope that helps

        Andy
