Is Microsoft Teams a good Intranet?
Teams can be the front door to your intranet, but it should not become another place where content is copied. Teams is the collaboration shell; SharePoint should remain the governed source for policies, news, forms, departmental pages, and document libraries. Start by creating or designating a SharePoint home site, then organize department sites under consistent navigation and assign an owner and review date to each content area. Configure the SharePoint app in Teams, formerly Viva Connections, so employees get one landing experience with company news, resources, and role-targeted dashboard cards. Add SharePoint pages, lists, or libraries as channel tabs only when they support that team's work; the underlying permissions remain SharePoint permissions. Avoid a single giant Team with channels for every department, because that recreates the discovery problem and complicates membership. Pilot with one department, test search and permissions with users, measure unsuccessful searches, then refine navigation before organization-wide rollout.
