Inviting Specific People to Channel Meetings (NOT the whole Team)

1. Adjust Group Settings
   1. Ensure the Microsoft 365 Group setting “Send copies of team email and events to team member inboxes” is turned off.
      1. 

          

   2. Note that this change will only work for new team or group members as they will not receive invitations but that will not affect users that were members previous to unchecking.
2. To Change this also for existing members of that team there are two options where option 2 is the easiest:
   1. Manual Changes in Outlook: Existing team members need to manually adjust their Outlook settings to stop receiving group messages.

   2. Re-add Members: Remove all members from the team and add them back. New members will not receive event notifications unless specifically invited.

I have tested this on my tenant and I can confirm that it works!

Once you have unchecked the "Send copies of team email and events to team member inboxes" for the group (as explained in a previous post), remove all members and then add them back again to the team. As new members, they will not receive event notifications unless they are specifically invited.
