I can't switch back to Teams chat with Alt+Tab on Mac
I can't switch back to Teams chat with Alt+Tab on Mac, becose Teams have two windows: the chat and the Microsoft Teams Notification. Microsoft Teams Notification is the default window, and this window is nowhere, and can't close.
Very frustrating.
Test your apps Microsoft!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ok, I found a "solution" to force Teams to use the notifications.
Simple version:
01. You go to your teams https://teams.microsoft.com02. When it asks for notifications, give the permission and that's it.
As an App in your dock:
02. You copy the URL from your logged-in teams-tab (01.)
03. You install Epichrome
(Very useful, you can wrap a Website as a App and it appears in the dock. Basically is MS doing the same with their "App" except it uses Electron, Epichrome uses Chrome or Brave.)
04. Start it, go through the wizard, when it asks for the URL, give your Teams-URL and a fine name for it.
(Icon can be automatically downloaded)
05. Start the new app, log in, give permission for notifications. Since it is basically a browser, it is forced to use the default MacOS Notifications. Alt-Tab works again.
Alternatively, there is a way to make a WebApp with chrome. But I never use chrome.

Try right clicking on the Teams icon in the bottom bar, pick Options and then assign to all desktops. just did this and it appears to be better. I also started to expand the window to full size without maximizing the window. Norbiprg

CaryNC27519 - yeah, that works - but the thing about Spaces on the Mac is that different desktops are for different things. I'd rather not have Teams in all of those windows.
It's a good solution though - in the absence of any others!

- endrilzCopper Contributor"Try right clicking on the Teams icon in the bottom bar, pick Options and then assign to all desktops. " This did the trick for me, on MacOS, thank you very much for posting the solution!
- markmatdiCopper ContributorGood clue that Alt-Tab focuses on "Microsoft Teams Notification is the default window, and this window is nowhere, and can't close." I changed my notification style to MAC in PREFERENCES | SETTINGS | NOTIFICATION | NOTIFICATION STYLE.
It's working so far... but more testing time is needed.- markmatdiCopper Contributor
markmatdi - (following my earlier posting) The testing I did found that focus is held for a few minutes but then is lost again.
The work-around to "assign to all desktops" helps but is not ideal.
@MS-Teams Development - While it seems like a small issue it really does mess up ones work flow, any chance of a fix?
- NickFunwinBrass Contributorit doesn't work. It will for a short time and then something triggers the blank notification window to come back. Very frustrating.
- studiorizCopper ContributorYeah eventually the 'fix' fails. Really annoying bug that they still haven't fixed.

Hah, I realized I had Teams set up as "full screen" and when I turned that off, it's working normally again.

I came across this thread solving a similar issue, but not exactly the same so no guarantees.
MacOS has a shortcut for switching between windows of the same app, which I ended up using.Hitting that instead of CMD+TAB should switch between notifications, chat, call, etc.
And, since this is a system shortcut, it is independent of Teams.
- studiorizCopper ContributorDirect from Microsoft Support. It worked!
For the Teams issue, there will be a workaround on this.
In settings -> notifications change to 'custom setting' and switched all settings from 'Banner and Feed' to 'Feed only' or turned if off. Then the notification window won't appear and Alt + Tab behavior works like intended. Notification sound and red point on dock still works.- RKeilmanBrass Contributorthat's not a solution, that's blinding yourself so you can hear better. the entire point of the app is to send and receive communications with my team ("Teams"!). without notifications what good is it?

Unfortunately I need notifications as I work mostly in full screen and even when not, dock is auto hidden.

zuikoppo for a while... and then it will go back to not working again pretty soon.
The only "solution" I've found so far is CMD+TAB then once you're over Teams. Press UP key until you get to the chat window.
- mckibben23Copper Contributornotifications via mac worked for me. now how the hell do we sort of tab/screen/window sharing in teams meetings?

Incase it helps someone else - I gave up waiting for this to be fixed and created a workaround using keyboard maestro (https://www.keyboardmaestro.com/)...
- RKeilmanBrass Contributor$40 app to fix basic functionality problems? no way! no how! ....well, maybe
Microsoft, for the love of god, please just fix what you broke

FIXED!This was driving me NUTS...totally screws up the workflow.
Then I switched the Notification style from "Teams built-in" to "Mac", and then **restarted Teams**.
Switching apps/teams with Apple+Tab now toggles across different desktops on Mac for me.
Hope it works for you!- MarcJirianCopper Contributor

MarcJirian Bummer. I was surprised by your comment, but you're right. It took about 3 days for it to revert, but I did have success by closing the app completely and re-launching. Annoying, but less so than it not working at all.
I hope they fix this ridiculous bug.
- Marcus RichterCopper ContributorYour font and exclamation marks kinda sum up this issue for me. I am so beyond ****** frustrated with this. A simple thing like cmd-tab and Microsoft just can't get the **bleep** thing to work.
