Dec 17, 2020How does the shadow mailbox used for Team chat eDiscovery get deleted
In a scenario where Exchange on premise is used for users mailboxes and they have enabled the shadow mailboxes for Teams eDiscovery what happens when a user's on premise mailbox is deleted.
I assume the change is synced to Azure AD and the user's online Shadow mailbox in Microsoft 365 is also deleted. However I can't find any reference to the process to check if my assumptions are correct.

Deleted I have not seen any confirmation for this or tested but I also thinks that when you delete the on-prem user or remove the license the shadow mailbox will be soft deleted as regular mailboxes.
