Guest accounts unwanted
We have been trying to set up teams free and in general it works great. We are up to about 80 users and they are all external email customers (@gmail, @hotmail, @yahoo, etc). Out of those users we have about 10 users that are assigned as guest and not members. We have not found a way to change this. We only want members and owners in Teams. Guest users cannot be made into an owner or member. We have tried to delete those accounts on both Teams and Azure. They still remain as add as guest only and not a member.

Laurie Pottmeyer adam deltinger Here is the newest that might help you help me. I have a new user. Their email is a gmail account like many others. They have never been added to Teams or on the Azure AD groups. I went to add them fresh and when I type their email to add to their team it comes up immediatly at add mailto:XXXXXX@gmail as guest with no other options. Any ideas?
Thanks,
Gene
- Try deleting them from Azure AD then also from the recycle bin. After that invite them as members..

adam deltinger That is the problem. We have deleted the user in Azure AD and then went in to deleted and did a removed forever. We made sure the user is not in Teams. When we go to add the user in teams it immediately has them in a pop down with (guest) after their email.
- Sounds like a sync or caching issue! Wait some time before adding them again! Also make sure to fully log out of the client and log back in
