Does the shadow mailbox created for eDiscovery of Teams get provisioned in a users PDL?

If a client has Multi-Geo with Exchange online then a user's mailboxes is automatically located in the user's Preferred Data Location (PDL). If  a user changes their PDL then the mailbox is automatically migrated to the new PDL.

If a client has Multi-geo with Exchange On prem and Microsoft have enabled the shadow online mailboxes for Teams eDiscovery will the shadow mailboxes also follow the same rules. Therefore be created in the user's Preferred Data Location (PDL) and if the user's PDL moves the shadow mailbox will be migrated to the new PDL.

FYI Nikki I posted the question on the docs page for Cloud-based storage for on-premises mailboxes. I'll update this thread if/when I get the answer: https://github.com/MicrosoftDocs/microsoft-365-docs/issues/3758

Mike Parker  thanks for doing that. I am in the same situation as you and trying to respond to a client. I thought I had mapped out how multi-geo works with all the M365  applications but had not explicitly thought about the shadow mailboxes until asked.

Literally just looking into this same question for a customer at the moment! Would be great if we could get a confirmation from MS/the Community?
