Connector from Azure DevOps board displays user mentions as object ID

We have a teams channel connector configured to display any "@" mentions made on a related ADO board.  Previously this connector worked and the "@" mentions were displayed in channel as "@username".  The author of the connector left the company so we had to rebuild it.  Now the connector provides board message as "@<4B55A55A-E555-55F5-B55B-642555553A5C>" which is not ideal.
