Or as you said, you can follow the Upgrade method in the menu with your photo in free teams to create a paid Teams tenant but this will be a new setup you won't be able to convert your Home tenant over. So your best bet might be the guest tenant switch and chat per previous reply.
A tip if you are able to be invited is to run the browser version of Teams and switch to that tenant in the browser tab and you will be able to keep your home tenant on the desktop client. This is assuming you still have messages and reasons to be in your home tenant. If not you can just switch in the client :p.

Thank you so much ChrisWebbTech for your responses. I have looked at the upgrade option as I would like to get all the benefits of a full version of Teams however when I click on the avatar in the top right of the desktop client I am using on my mac, there isn't an option to upgrade!! (screen grab attached)
- Apr 14, 2020Odd, maybe Mac client doesn't have support for it. Can you use Chrome and check teams.microsoft.com via web client and see if it's there?
