Channel at Microsoft Teams

How can I see all channels of a Team, important I will see the deleted channels, too.

  • Hi Chriswc719 ,

Select the Team > Ellipsis (...) > Manage Team > Channels. This will show you all active and deleted channels.

    Hope that answers your question!

    Best, Chris

Yeah, if you constantly delete and cycle channels in this Team over time you probably have that bug that doesn't allow more channels. Really Really old Teams made before they increased the limit I even think are limited to 50 or 100 on the backend in addition to that. I would shoot over a support Ticket. Might end up having to create a new Team, but it's worth a shot to see if they can do anything on the back end for it. Link them this article in the ticket, but hopefully they know this when you call and skip all the script steps they have everyone do when doing a ticket.

Ok, so I see 22 channels (active) and 7 deleted but when I want to create a new one, teams tells me I have too many channels, please delet one. I don´t understand the message, because I mean I can create 200 channels. Do you have an idea.

If this is an old Team and you had many channels previously then deleted channels never reset after deleting them. Some bug with Teams. Not sure support can do anything, but you can try to put in a ticket, but old channels get stuck in the back end and count to the total.

Also - just throwing it out there - is every channel in that team a private channel? Because the limit of private channels is 30 per team and that is roughly the number of channels listed

  • Also keep note, that you can only see deleted channels for I think 30ish days. After that, they get permanently deleted and you can no longer see them.

    Hi Chriswc719 ,

With the invention of Private Channels I believe the only true way to see all the channels is from the Teams Admin Centre - just in-case someone has created one and not added you.

Chris's Original post is the correct answer. You can see all channels, including member created private channels as an owner of a Team on Manage Team > Channel tab.
