Change Teams email address to use it elsewhere?
Months ago our group created a Team – let’s call it Team Name — which automatically reserved the email address teamname@site.xyz. Recently we decided to ask for an external email address for our group and requested teamname@site.xyz, only to find it’s already our email in Teams. That address is more valuable to us for external use.
How do we change the Teams email address to free up that address for external use? Will the email address change if we rename the team? Will the email address be freed up if we delete the team? I’m a user, not an admin.

- Hi! It wont help renaming the team! Deleting will help but you have to remove the group and also from the recycle bin!
You can change the group address and remove the old one via powershell:
