Can you change the permissions in the General channel to allow non-owners to only reply to messages

Hi, 

 

We have all of our classes set up in Teams to teach remotely while schools are closed in the UK. While we are aware of the ability to stop students from posting at all in the General channel, what we really want to do is allow them to post in this channel, but only if they are replying to something posted by the Owner (the teacher). I know this can be done if you create a new channel, but can't see an option to do this in the General channel. Can it be done?

    Currently no. For whatever reason the general channel didn’t get the new moderation features the other channels got and retained the original settings. The general channel had those settings prior to moderation so I’m guessing they left it alone to not break anyone’s settings.
