Camera showing Black Screen only when using Teams app, works with Web version
- Jan 30, 2021
I have been having this issue as well and have found a hacky solution. It seems that when you initiate the camera in Zoom, it stops it from working in Teams. The only way to get it working again in Teams is:
1) Reboot into Mac
2) Download/Open Teams app on Mac
3) Initiate camera (either start a video call or test camera in Teams > Settings > Devices)
4) Reboot into Windows and the camera on Teams should be working again.
HOWEVER as soon as you start the camera on Zoom again (also seems to happen with Google Meet), it will stop working on Teams and you will have to repeat the process above.
It seems using the camera on Zoom/Google Meet causes the camera to become incompatible with Teams (and also Skype). Hopefully an actual fix to this is coming soon
harminderchagger we are chasing MS for many months for this issue and finally have the solution. see if that works for those who are using MacBook with windows 10 boot camp option. follow the below steps:
- Quit Teams application completely
- Start cmd as administrator
- Run this command echo {"RtmCodecsConfig":{"CapturerApiForce":"1"}} > %appdata%\Microsoft\Teams\SkypeRT\persistent.conf
- Verify that %appdata%\Microsoft\Teams\SkypeRT\persistent.conf was updated as expected.
- Start Teams again, and test the camera.
Cheers!!

TechManishI have the same issue, but I am using Mac OS. When I plug in my external USB Camera, Teams app shows a black screen for Camera. However, the camera works for everything else such as photo booth, zoom, even MS Teams meetings on any browser.
I tried rebooting, removing and reinstalling, giving app permission to the camera, etc. No luck 😞
Any suggestion?

yahawiliThanks for your reply. But I am running Mac OS, not Windows on a Mac.
I don't have zoom installed in this machine, so I guess the other suggestion doesn't apply either.

aizlam I'v had the same issue on my MacBook Pro 14" 2022, macOS Monterey Version 12.4.
I'm using MS Teams in my Google Chrome Browser. Since a couple of Days whenever I join a Meeting my Webcam was shown as a black window, but when I called a colleague I could use my Webcam.
Nethertheless, I've tried out things like reinstalling, restarting, closing trough the task manager of Mac, but nothing worked. So I decided to delete chache, cookies also didn't helped. So next thing I've tried was to logoff from my Office Account in teams and then delete the "Google" Folder from "Library", somehow this worked for me today.
