IT-Nerd , I've had the exact same issue with my Philips 272B7QUBHEB Monitor. I've contacted my regional Philips support desk how provided me with a tool to flash the latest firmware on the monitor. This resolved the issue! I'd recommend to do the same.

I tried the same, but in my case, it wasn't working. I'm in contact with a Philips technician and we are trying to find a solution. We have >70 monitors and most of them are having this issue. It's a huge problem because we planned to order a lot more of them... I think this could be also a macOS error, because sometimes we are facing this problem in Facetime too.

    IT-Nerd I don't think this is related to the external monitor you connect to the machine. It worked fine for me three months ago, more or less, and my monitors are the same.

     

    The only thing I did was updating my OS to Catalina. I am on MacBook Pro 13".
