Bluetooth audio out stops when using Teams
- Feb 05, 2021
I've been criticizing Microsoft for owning the problem and doing nothing about it. I did follow the suggestion from Sven and updated the driver for my Intel Wireless Bluetooth device. With driver version 22.20.0.3 - 2020-11-27 the problem seem to be there no more.
With that I was wrong in my opinion that Microsoft is to blame for the issue and that you deliberately would ignore the problems caused. I apologize for that.
kind regards

"No deflection intended" but it is hard trying to look past the ignorance.
I have been using several Bluetooth devices with both my telephone and several laptops. As you state with the article most pc Bluetooth communication devices works bad with the pc because of the Bluetooth specification and the fact that the devices only host one chip. However, that problem aside, most or every application will work fairly good including microsoft skype. But with teams there is a whole different story. Only in this thread a vast number of users give evidence that a vide range of different devices from different manufacturer, that is working great for other purposes will just not co-operate with teams.
So base line is: With the wide range of devices and number of people that experience these problems. There is no chance that Microsoft is not aware of the problems. Again, with the wide range of devices, it is not probable that there is nothing else but a teams problem.

"Hi all - have you confirmed that you're using Teams enabled devices?" This comes out very strange to me. The idea with typed devices that add hear to a specification, is that it is registered as an enabled device and works as one. In this case I start to suspect that Microsoft developers are going past the standard "communication device" api's by some reason. And this is what is not working for various devices with the standard communication device driver.
So, I would ask that you stop pretending that this is a unknown issue and solve it. The other scenario is that you're very aware of the problem and have taken a design decision to opt for some fancy functionality provided, outside standard specifications, by some device manufacturer. And while doing so deliberately throw normal Bluetooth users under the bus as collateral damage.
Please, just fix this.

JWu28 I wish! I was hopeful this would apply to my device, however I upgraded my drivers to the latest Intel bluetooth driver (BT-22.170.0-32-64UWD-Win10-Win11.exe) and I am on Win11 with latest updates, audio is still killed if using a microphone other than the bluetooth headset. It seems to activate some mode that requires both mic + sound to go through the BT headset. This prevents audio while the call is active, even if I have working music + an active call using the web browser.
If there was a way to prevent engaging BT Phone mode (or whatever it is), I'm sure this would solve the issue. I'm stuck using a browser to get hifi sound, which would be fine, but the web app doesn't have all the capabilities of the desktop app. Still so frustrating.
