Banner pop up for Channel posts

Hi All,

My company is new to Teams and learning the notification and banner features. We use Chats for general conversations but for anything specific e.g. a project or a long topic we are planning on using Channels where we can organise posts, documents, wiki and so on. We get a pop up balloon when someone sends a Chat message but we don't know whether it's possible to pop ups for a new Post inside a channel too. Is this possible? If so

ChrisWebbTech no the issue wasn't resolved but Satish tried hard to help.

We have raised a ticket with Microsoft and they said it's a valid issue and they are working on it

  • Hi Belal999

That's Correct Yes when some post anything on the Channel you will get a Banner Notification on the Microsoft Teams Application.

In the Team there is also an additional feature inside the channel for example if someone wants to bring attention to a specific topic they can use @mention option inside the channel to notify a specific person. Similarly you can also use @mention for the Entire Team to bring attention of the Entire Team Members.

RealTime_M365 Thanks Satish for your quick response.

If you are referring to the setting "Notify me every time there is a new post in this channel" it's already set to "Banner and Feed" but I don't get any pop up notification sliding in at the bottom-right corner the way they pop up for Chat messages.

      • Hi Belal999

Check Two Setting for the same. Here are the steps to check with the Notification Settings:-

        1. Firstly In the Microsoft Teams Channel > More Setting > Channel Notification > Ensure it is set to Channel and Feed Notification

        2. Secondly In the Microsoft Teams Client on the User Account > Settings > Notification > Channel Notification > Ensure it is set to Banner and Feed Notification

If both the above setting are configured accordingly you should be able to set get the notification when any information is published in the channel.

        With Regards,

        Satish U
