Add external email address to Teams
Hi we want our client's email to onboard in out teams , but we do not intend to give them email address using our domain ,what is the best way to add them to a teams project where they can comment and view files using their own doamin email address?
- Guest access can accomplish this. Here is the checklist for setting it up: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoftteams/guest-access-checklist
Keep in mind if it's not setup, the note on the article that says it can take up to 24 hours to allow guests to be invited once everything is setup :).- tony-derricottGold ContributorIs there a difference between "guest" access and "external" access?
- Yes, Guest means they can switch to your Tenant and participate inside of Teams and chat with your users in your org with full fidelity.
External chat is just sitting in your own tenant, and being able to message someone in another tenant directly using their e-mail address in chat to be able to quickly chat with them. But it's currently limited to basic chat/voice/video right now until native external chat is released.
