Any tips on getting Floor plans to work?

I've uploaded floor plans for the first floor of one of our buildings. The import went fine, it tells me it sees a count of 35 people (which is correct), but nothing happens on the user cards in my Bing search results. I was able to import a floor for a different building and it's working fine. Any hints on how to give it a kick-start? I'm not even sure from the documentation if results are real-time, or if I have to wait for a re-index (it's been over 24 hours).

Thanks for any hints!

  • Mirek_N The labeling is correct in the DWG file. Can you do the following:

    1. Mark 10 or more rooms with room labels. Something like ST-10., ST-11 ... ST-20.
    2. Update office locations of 10 or more AAD users with B1/ST-10, B1/ST-11, ... B1/ST-20.
    3. Check whether the changes have reached MS Search. It might take upto 8 days.
      1. To check, open office.com and search for the person with the locations in (2). If the updated address shows up, it will work.
    4. Now upload the floor plans.

    laying a foundation coat of cement concrete that is 100 mm thick and has a cement-to-fine-sand-to-brickbat ratio of either 1:4:8 or 1:8:16 on compacted ground beneath the floor.

    For all forms of flooring work, the base laying is essentially the same.

    Heidi Connor RahulSrivastava thank you both for your help! Finally it works 🙂 Where you can find the result? I found it in Bing and in SharePoint when I search within whole organization. Does exist a way how to add this in information e.g. to Teams. It could be nice to have as a new tab next to "Organization" tab when you chat 1:1? I guess that people usually do not use Bing.

      I know it's been a while since you asked and has this answered, but I'm at a similar point in trying to set this up and running into the same problem.  I'm hoping some of you are still watching this thread.

      Following these instructions:   https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoftsearch/manage-floorplans

      I don't have AutoCAD and was given a floor plan for our office and that floorplan was not what I would have expected. No rooms were labeled at all, some equipment was (Microwaves, printers, etc.)

      I figured I could mock something up for demo. I'm hitting a snag on the Link office Locations. That is showing me a lot of options that I suspect show up on some of our users and rooms (under Office), but it's not showing me all options. The 4 digit code that ties to the location I have a map for doesn't appear.

      Any idea of where that is pulling from? Or did you have issues with seeing all options?

      I can push on by picking an incorrect one, but then it goes on to ask me about specifying location patterns for that incorrect location.

      Also wondering how you've used that since setting it up. Have you used workspaces at all? Found any better use than Bing?

        BillB0156 Hi Bill, You mentioned that you mocked up a floor plan for a demo. Does it have room numbers? If yes, did you also update the 'Office' attribute of AAD profiles of users to contain the building code and room numbers? If you do that, then you will see the building code in the drop-down in 'Link office locations'.

    Hello Heidi Connor,

    may I ask you for tips or screens how did you set the search? Could you share please exactly following details:

    • What kind of information do you have in label in DWG file?
    • What kind of information do you have in user profile in label Office?
    • What did you set in "Link office location"?

    Does the search work?

    I set it this way but it does not work.

    1. Created map with labels
    2. Change users office in AAD profile (B1/ST-17) where B1 is building and ST-17 office. If I understood it right.
    3. Set search
      1. Set location
      2. Set floor plan
        1. Select location
        2. Upload map
        3. Link office location

    Thank you for your tips,

    Mirek

      Hi Mirek_N ,

      Our building/seating format looks like:  BOS-C1-105.1, where:

      BOS = Building

      C1 = Floor

      105.1 = Seat

      In the DWG file, we have the building, floor, and office code/numbers.

      In the Admin Center user profiles, it shows the full building, floor, seat:   BOS-C1-105.1

      In Locations, I have added an entry for Boston Campus, which I'll use when adding the floor plan.

      When setting it up in Search > Floor Plans:

      1. On the “Select your building” pane, I select = Boston Campus
      2. On the “Link Office locations” (AAD code) pane, I enter = BOS
      3. On the “Specify location patterns” pane, I enter Floor = C1, Room = 105.1, and we have a few Zones, so there’s a second pattern row for zone items that is Floor = C1, Room = ZONE1 (This appears to be case sensitive)

        Thank you Heidi for your tips. I have changed the settings and will see what will happen on Monday. It needs a long time to see changes. I will let you know 🙂

      Thanks RahulSrivastava. That's good to know. It's been over 96 hours now and the maps are still not showing on the user cards in Bing search results. Frustrating, since I'm not getting an error on import, I'm not sure what to look at for troubleshooting.
