Working with audio files in Copilot
- Jul 23, 2025
Neither Microsoft 365 Copilot nor Microsoft 365 Copilot Chat do support today Audio Files. The response is a hallucination of Copilot. Check out the supported filetypes here: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/topic/file-upload-in-microsoft-copilot-8b7bf432-9576-4b16-9dee-6c19a4169e62
Hello! I was trying to do that earlier in the week and found this post, which confirmed that Copilot does not (yet) have the ability to transcribe audio files directly:

Thanks for the reply. I didn't run across that post when researching. The additions were mentioned in the Microsoft Admin Center > Message Center, but it looks like it's scheduled for August '25. I'm just glad it's coming! I posted the link to the update in my reply to Ankur_B above. This link doesn't give much detail, but here's the summary from the Message Center:
Summary
Microsoft 365 Copilot Chat will support new file types like CAD, ZIP, and MP4 for search grounding, enhancing response relevance. The rollout begins late August 2025, completing by mid-September. No user interface changes; feature is on by default and requires eligible Microsoft 365 Copilot Chat licenses.
