Copilot for Planner and To Do Automating Task Management

In today’s fast-paced digital workplace, managing tasks effectively is one of the most important skills for productivity and team success. Between meetings, emails, chats, and deadlines, it’s easy for key action items to fall through the cracks. Microsoft’s latest innovation—Copilot for Planner and To Do—aims to change that by using artificial intelligence to automate and simplify task management.

This powerful integration between Microsoft 365 Copilot, Planner, and To Do allows individuals and teams to automatically generate, organize, and monitor tasks using natural language. Instead of spending hours setting up task lists or following up manually, you can let Copilot do the heavy lifting.

That's exactly how I use To Do as well - as a high-level task planner for my day given I have to manage significant activity across multiple disparate surfaces. I was just searching for this same desired outcome. Reading through the article linked above, it appears Planner has been integrated with m365 co-pilot specifically, but not To Do necessarily. Even if co-pilot simply had awareness of the tasks you had in your My Day area, and the dates and times of when they are due, and the order of their priority, you could ask it all sorts of things without it necessarily needing to be able to reorganize anything in it. I could probably create a manual version of this by copying and pasting the text of my to-do list into a co-pilot prompt, but this is not desirable unless I guess I'm in an absolute critical deadline bind scenario.

Integrating task management into an LLM's understanding of what you want to accomplish is a rather basic and critical use case if we're talking about AI helping more holistically with time / productivity management.

Doesn't look like Co-Pilot can natively interact with To Do just yet which is a shame as it could make a good central repository for productivity in a day where you can have actions in emails, Teams, Jira, Planner, Smartsheet etc.
