Can I set up an automated employee recognition system with copilot?

My manager asked me to look into whether Copilot can help us build some kind of employee recognition program inside Teams. It could include anniversary and birthday recognitions, or even recognitions sent based on achievements and milestones? Can I connect it with Praise? Or set up automations with power automate? Am I overengineering something I can pawn of to something third party?

Microsoft already has Praise in Teams.

    Praise provides:

    • Recognition badges
    • Public acknowledgements
    • Team visibility
    • Existing Teams integration

    For many organizations:

Praise + management discipline = done.

No Copilot. No Power Automate. No custom app.

Where Power Automate actually makes sense

Some lightweight automation could add value:

    Work anniversaries

    Trigger:

    • Anniversary date reaches 1, 5, 10, 15 years

    Action:

    • Post Teams message
    • Mention team
    • Optional Praise card

    Birthdays

    Same concept.

    Although be careful:

    • Privacy concerns
    • Regional regulations
    • Not everyone wants birthday broadcasts

Many companies deliberately avoid this nowadays.

    Where Copilot might help

    Not in triggering recognition.

    More in generating recognition content.

Praise + a few targeted Power Automate flows first. Only bring Copilot into the picture for message generation or manager assistance, not as the foundation of the recognition program itself.
