Microsoft AI-900
Hi
How can I enroll my students to take the module AI-900 and get them examined for free? I used to do that 3 years ago when these modules were maintained by a training manager, but since then, it has become community-based, which is why I come to you with the question. I hope you can help me. I need to explain to students how to enroll in the module, how to use it and make the labs, and give them information about the free exam.
Kindly advise

Thank you for your question! You're right that Microsoft previously offered free exam vouchers through certain programs. However, the current offering provides a discounted voucher when students register via https://learn.microsoft.com. While it's no longer entirely free, the discount still makes certification more accessible and affordable.

Hi Carlos,
I am still confused, to be honest! I got the skillable email, so what should I do now? Is it to """copy its content and forward it to students""" as is? + Add the links in Step (4) about studying AI-900? BUT, (I) the link does not work! (II) Should we guide students about where to find the course or create account? whereare these instructions? and (iii) Should I attach in the email and links about the exam voucher?
I hope you can advise, as it is not clear to me what to send to students and what not send which is confusing!

Carlos_Chaves are there discounted student vouchers for PL-300 as well? Also, can you point me toward the required steps to get a free voucher to take the exam for instructors teaching the material or email me please?

Hi Nathan,
You're absolutely right—students affiliated with a verified academic institution are eligible for discounted exam vouchers. The exact discount can vary by region and availability, but it's typically around 30–40%.As for educators, the main requirement is that the voucher request must be tied to a relevant course. ARB exams are free, and Fundamentals exams are offered at a 60% discount.

What are the steps for students to get a discount and the educator to get a voucher?

Hi Carlos,
Many thanks, one more final question then, you mentioned that it is not possible to see who or how many students completed the module, however this is needed for reporting purposes by our department. I remember 3 years ago I was able to find that some students of mine successfully passed the module, and I was able to report the numbers. Now, is it different? This point will be very useful if I can get. Any ideas or support towards this pls?

Hi Amir,
For certification exams, unfortunately, that's not possible. However, for learning modules on Microsoft Learn, you can create a learning plan and track your students' progress. You can hand-pick specific modules and monitor how each student is doing.
You can learn more here: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/training/educator-center

Thanks a lot, Carlos,
One final question then, you said (The students get a discounted voucher when registering for the exam on learn.microsoft.com), so it is not free anymore? 3 years ago, it was free, did that change?

Dear Carlos,
I have made this post before, but nothing appears! I repeat again, sorry for cross-posting!
Thanks for your email. I have a couple of more questions: (1) Is this free module and exam available for students only or for academic staff members as well? (2) Is there a way to see the names of the persons who successfully achieved the module/exam? (3) Is there a maximum duration to achieve the module/exam from the moment the enrollment in the module starts? and (4) in case a student has a non-scientific question, should he/she send it to me and I forward it to you, as was happening 3 years ago, or can he/she post it similarly to what I do now, and you reply directly?
Kindly advise

- The students get a discounted voucher when registering for the exam on learn.microsoft.com, educators signed and supported by an existing MSLE Institutional account, they'll receive a free and discount voucher using the MSLE portal.
- There is no way to keep track of fail\pass rates unless you become a certified testing center. https:/4/www.pearsonvue.com/us/en/test-centers/become-a-test-center.html
- We recommend to use vouchers during regular fiscal year Jan-Dec, because on December they'll expire.
- MSLE is meant to be an educator guidance only, so I can't guide your students, however if their question is within my reach I will help or point you in the right direction.
Hope it helps 😁

Hi Carlos
Thanks for your reply, as I count on sending the email to our school students, I checked in my records and found a copy from the email I used to inform students about this module 3 years ago where the previous admin of Microsoft helped me drafting it. May I ask you kindly to look at the email attached below and advise me on what I need to adapt more in case things have changed?
[I have also attached to that email I sent 3 years ago 3 documents: Student Welcome Pack (PDF), AI-900T00A-ENU-CourseDatasheet_FSI (PDF), and D2S E2EE External (pptx) which I can not attach here. Did these documents change at all]?

Dear all
As promised, please find the primary remarks for the Microsoft AI-900 standalone module. The first attachment "Student Welcome Pack" contains information about the modules of Microsoft and most importantly instructions at the end to set up your accounts. The second attachment (D2S) has steps for students to redeem their Measure Up practice test & schedule the exam. Students must answer 25 Measure Up practice questions to unlock an exam voucher. Finally, the last document is the datasheet of the module.
Measure Up practice key for the practice test must be activated within 21 days after each student is deemed eligible, and the practice test must be completed within 30 days after activation.
Certification voucher must be used within 90 days after each student is deemed eligible (Steps 3) (exam scheduled), and the exam must be completed within 90 days of activationMicrosoft Certified: Azure AI Fundamentals - Learn | Microsoft Docs. Aligned Online Training directs students to Microsoft Learn, which is self-paced learning aligned directly to the certification exam & Microsoft Official course. When engaging the students, direct them to this learn landing page, they click ‘sign in’, top right hand corner of the page & create a Microsoft Learn profile with a Microsoft Account (Gmail, Outlook or Hotmail), not ac.uk. Reason being when they leave the institution, they can maintain the same profile.
* I will send you a link (that allows you to access the measure-up practice test) once you are ready for practice to avoid having exam vouchers expire, i.e., you can active your measure-up practice keys ONLY if you are sure that you have enough time to make the practice test after each module. If you think you will interrupt your module in the middle for any reason and due to time availability restrictions, you can study the modules and make the practice tests at the end. You must answer 25 Measure Up practice questions to unlock an exam voucher for the final exam to be Microsoft certified. If you are ready for practice tests after each module, ask me for the link to generate the keys.
* Please understand that you can do labs in the Azure platform, which is not related to the Measure UP practice tests. The labs are to make you make sure that you understand the concepts well same as we do in COMP5008 and familiarize yourself with the Azure system. However, the Measure UP practice tests measures how ready you are for the certification test, which needs that you validate a certain number of questions as indicated earlier to show that you are ready enough to make it.
* The labs are accessible through the datasheet document, where you can press on the links there to access the labs and you need to create accounts (Azure for students) with your academic emails (ac.uk). You will find all details available once you start following the different steps.
* I have some training questions about the different parts of the module AI-900 (Introduction to AI, ML, Computer Vision, NLP, and Conversational AI) where you can ask me to send them to you so that you try to answer them first and I can mark them with you, this is just a simple revision before making the tests and you can make at any time.
If you have any questions please let me know
Regards
Best Regards

This is indeed an email that was crafted 3+ years ago. My team wrote that email and we helped 200k students get certified.
That program has now finished.
Where are you based AM02 Amir? I might be able to help further. - Carlos_Chaves

Hi Amir, yes you're correct, those were the steps you would need to take 3 years ago, but now the proper steps to take are listed above, take a look at step #3. Let me know if you need further clarification.

Dear Carlos,
Many thanks for your email, now final 3 questions, (1) is this offer valid for students only (i.e., study Microsoft AI-900 and take exam for free)? (2) How can I know the names of students who completed it successfully? and (3) are these any restrictions on the number of students who can study the module and take a free exam from the same institute?

Hi Amir, here's Step-by-step: How to Offer AI-900 to Students with Exam Access
- Create Your Course in the MSLE Portal
- Go to https://aka.ms/MSLEPort
- Register or log in as an educator
- Create your AI-900 course and link it to your institution
- Agree to Lab Usage Terms
- During course setup, you’ll be prompted to accept lab usage terms
- This enables access to hands-on labs provided by Skillable
- Wait for Skillable Email (48–72 Hours)
- After setup, you’ll receive an email from Skillable with next steps
- This includes lab access instructions for your students
- Guide Students to Study and Certify
- Students can study AI-900 on https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/training/paths/get-started-ai-fundamentals/
- They can request a discounted exam voucher at https://aka.ms/StudentCertification

The first bullet under 4 is a broken link. The module for AI-900 under the second bullet under 4 is empty. (See above picture.)

Hi Carlos,
Many thanks for your reply, a few more questions if you can help with, pls: (1) Is this free module and exam available for students only, or academic staff as well? (2) How can I know the names of persons who successfully achieved and passed the exam? (3) Is there a specific maximum duration to validate the exam after starting the module? and (4) If students enrolled in the module have questions (non-scientific), should they come to me, and I send the questions to you (this is how it worked 3 years ago), OR can they post their questions directly, the same way I do now?
Kindly advise
