Hybrid join is only meant to bridge the gap between on-premises and azure cloud for existing devices. Microsoft’s stand has and is not to use hybrid join for new devices provisioned through Autopilot. This was made further evident with APv2. The solution is clunky and doesn’t fit or align with Microsoft’s feature roadmap.
