Manage apps with different versions or update priority
Hi,
We manage a lot of Android devices in Intune as Dedicated with Entra shared device mode.
We use dynamic device groups to assign apps to these devices.
The problem we encounter is if a device is member of multiple groups, Intune only recognizes the first one.
Example 1.
A Public Google Play app is assigned to two dynamic device groups:
1. All-Devices - Including all Android devices and the update priority is set to "Postponed"
2. Test-Devices - Including a subset of the Android devices with update priority set to "High priority"
The wanted result is that the device member of both groups get the app automatically updated with high priority automatically when a new version of the app is released.
But the actual result is that nothing happens.
Example 2.
A Google Play app delivered in a Private track is assigned to two dynamic device groups with different versions
All-Devices - Including all Android devices is assigned with version 1.0 of the app
Test-Devices - Including a subset of the Android devices with version 2.0 of the app
The wanted result is that the devices in the Test-Devices group are automatically updated to version 2.0
But the actual result is that the app is not updated automatically. However, if I manually go to Google Play and check for updates, I can update the app.
The only "workaround" I have, for both cases above, is to exclude devices from "All-Devices" that are members of "Test-Devices". This is a huge administrative issue since we have a lot of these kinds of apps and a lot more test groups for each app than in the above examples.
Is this the expected behavior?
Thanks!
Niklas
