iOS WiFi configuration profile: network name setting

We managed to get a WiFi configuration on our iOS devices usign the SCEP certificate to authenticate.

I have a question about the 'Network name' setting: MS articles say that this is the name of the network that users will see when they browse the available wifi networks, so I set it with a generic name, something like "Our Company's Wifi" instead of the actual SSID string.

On the device, though, this name is not displayed, it is shown the actual SSID. If I select it all works, so the rest of the profile seems to be ok.

Is it supposed to work in this way?
The same setting on Windows device displays the "Our Company's WIFI" string...

Thank you

Are you setting both Network Name and SSID values in your profile?

Network name: Enter a name for this Wi-Fi connection. This value is the name that users see when they browse the list of available connections on their device.

SSID: Short for service set identifier. This property is the real name of the wireless network that devices connect to. However, users only see the network name you configured when they choose the connection.

    Is the network Hidden?

On the device, if you go to Settings > Wi-Fi > Edit, do you see the provisioned Wi-Fi network listed here under Known Networks?

      Hello!

Yes I'm Setting both values but the names are different.

No, the network is not hidden.

Yes I see the ssid in the known networks (and on iphone I can see the provided networks in the section named "your networks") but the network does not have the custom network name that I insert in the field, but the SSID

      All the connections work well.

      The SSID is visible

  • AFAIK you need to specify the actual WiFi SSID (Case-Sensitive !) in the Network Name section

Well, it can be, but in this case I don't understand the usefulness of this field.
If you create a configuration profile for windows devices and set different names where only the SSID is correct, Windows connects to it and shows your custom network name in the UI.
