How do you configure iOS Outlook to use SystemDefaultBrowser?
Hi,
We would like our apple DEP devices that are managed by intune to use the system default browser when clicking links in iOS outlook.
I have tried to add "com.microsoft.outlook.Settings.OpenLinks.UseSystemDefaultBrowser" in App Configuration policy. But that doesn't change anything.
I have checked the learn microsoft site, but none of these settings is available when checking all configuration settings for outlook in Endpoint manager.
Like these two:
Open Links in Edge | On | Users will be prompted to open links in Edge. Admins now have the option to disable this feature for their company. | App Default |
com.microsoft.outlook.Settings.OpenLinks.UseSystemDefaultBrowser | This new app config policy disables Open Links feature and always uses system default browser. | Managed devices |

Would appreciate some help!
Kind regards, Tom
TomHolm please also deploy the following key:
com.microsoft.outlook.Settings.OpenLinks.UserChangeAllowed
Boolean
False
You need to deploy both keys to "enforce" this setting.

Hello TomHolm
Welcome to the Microsoft community, my name is Recep I'll be happy to help you today.
Here is a general guide on how you might approach this in Microsoft Intune:
- App Configuration Policy:
- Navigate to the Microsoft Endpoint Manager admin center.
- Select "Apps" and then choose "App configuration policies."
- Create a new policy or edit an existing one.
- Settings for System Default Browser:
- Add a configuration setting for the Outlook app.
- Use the key-value pair that corresponds to the desired behavior. In your case, it seems you've already tried using "com.microsoft.outlook.Settings.OpenLinks.UseSystemDefaultBrowser."
- Assign the Policy:
- After configuring the settings, assign the policy to the desired group of iOS devices.
- Outlook App Update:
- Ensure that your Outlook app is up to date on the iOS devices.

Hi Recep!
I have tried to find if there was any setting for the "Default system browser" in the "App configuration policies." for the iOS Microsoft Outlook app. But i can't seem to find any.
Also tried to add "General configuration settings" with the key that i wrote about earlier that i found ""com.microsoft.outlook.Settings.OpenLinks.UseSystemDefaultBrowser."".
Maybe there is no way to set the default browser in the iOS version of Microsoft Outlook in Endpoint manager?
Kind regards, Tom
