Autopilot enrollment through serial number

I’m working for a reseller, and one of my customers has asked us to enroll their device serial numbers into their Intune/Autopilot tenant.
We only have permission to upload devices because we are not their CSP partner.

Now the customer wants us to enroll the devices, including their Purchase Order (PO) number, in the Purchase Order field in Intune.

The issue is:
Because we are not their CSP, the tenant does not allow us to enter or modify the Purchase Order field when we upload devices.

My question:

Is it possible for a non‑CSP reseller or partner to add a Purchase Order number during Autopilot device enrollment?
If not, what options exist for a reseller to ensure that the Purchase Order field is populated?

In Windows Autopilot, only a limited set of attributes can be edited after device upload (such as Device name, Group Tag, and Assigned user). The Purchase Order field is not one of them.

The Purchase Order value is populated as part of the OEM / CSP registration process and can’t be manually added or modified by the customer’s Intune admin after upload. This is by design.

If PO tracking is required and you’re not operating as a CSP, the supported workaround is to store the PO number in the Group Tag field or maintain it in an external asset system mapped to the device serial number.

If the PO field itself must be populated, the devices need to be registered through an OEM or CSP workflow.

    Hope this helps.
