Autopilot and Device Setup - Apps

Having issues installing Apps during the Autopilot Device Setup stage.

Currently there are four apps trying to install and at least one is failing.

I have worked that the following applications were failing:

Microsoft 365 Apps for Education

Company Portal

Is there a way to skip application setup/install at this stage?

Also how would I only have rules applied to Autopilot devices but not other users, devices, personal, etc.... and then later apply to the user/staff member who will be using the device?

  • Hy,

take a look on dynamic groups and Filters:

    https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/autopilot/enrollment-autopilot

For Example in order to o create a group that includes all of the Windows Autopilot devices, enter: (device.devicePhysicalIDs -any (_ -startsWith "[ZTDid]")).

For you "Rules" you can use Filters, it suitable for your scope.

    https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/intune/intune-service/fundamentals/filters

Review you APP assignments and maybe later one you Firewall rules.

Be aware that you can not combine Filters (only Devices) on User Deployments Scopes or assignments.

    Good luck!

      Hi,

What do you mean:   Be aware that you can not combine Filters (only Devices) on User Deployments Scopes or assignments.

It could go after i tested that it is not the greatest approach.

In order for you to better udnerstend how it works, just take this exercise from me and the links that I provided you allready.

Create a filter as in the link I provided, create a configuration profile  or an APP deployment as a user scope and assign the filter to your deployment as “Included”.

        Good luck!

        Hy,

What type of autopilot deployment are you using in Intune so I can give you further assistance.

Post a log or screenshot, that will help a lot.

        Good luck!

How are your assignments currently setup? Depending on your enrolment type and requirements, you can assign apps and policies to either a dynamic group containing Autopilot devices or a user group. Although, I would start by checking the setup of M365 apps and company portal first. Maybe consider using a Win32 M365 apps if not done already.
