Where is the cache for the Exchange In-place Archive Stored?

Question

I have a user who has a 33 GB mailbox as a result his Outlook client is becoming extremely sluggish and egg timering frequently. Its takes ages to open the Outlook client and for it to be updated.

My idea is to enable the Exchange In-Place Archive to reduce the size of his mailbox but my question is where is the cache for the In-Place Archive stored? If its stored locally then that's no good to me but if its only stored online then I could see this as being a viable solution

Any feedback /suggestions would be greatly appreciated

The Exchange Online Archive is only available online and you do not have any cache in the PC.
