Feb 08, 2017Separating Groups of Users
Hi
We have 2 set of distinct users on our tenants, Staff and Students. These are synced from AD and assigned an E3 license for staff and A1 license for students. We have moved the lstudent mailboxes to Office 365 as we have over 2,000 and felt this took strain off our on prem Exchange.
My issue now is that the students get to see things in Office 365 that we would prefer to keep separate. For example in Outlook they see the full directory which includes staff emails. They have access to Groups which they don't need.
My question is how can I keep these separate or at least disable them so they can't see them, especially the Directory (all our internal emails, distribution lists etc. are available which we do not want).
Thanks

FYI, there is a lot of good info for the admins in the Education sector at https://support.office.com/en-us/article/Get-started-with-Office-365-Education-AB02ABE5-A1EE-458C-B749-5B44416CCF14?ui=en-US&rs=en-US&ad=US&fromAR=1
You can use Address book policies to limit what they can see in the OAB: https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh529948(v=exchg.150).aspx
Note that does not actually stop them from contacting staff, or accessing content in Public groups for that matter.
