Save email attachments from MS Outlook 2016 to SharePoint site

With SharePoint Online and Office/Outlook 2016 you have three options:

1. Use out of the box capabilities, although limited in a few areas and key support at this time for OneDrive for Business only
2. WebDAV which personally I don't like 
3. Third Party Solutions, and on this there a few and they come in two flavours
   • Traditional COM / vsto add-in (desktop client installed on each machine)
   • Office Store Add-in (app) which can work in Outlook 2013, 2016 but also on the web browser and macOS (very nice):

Note: If using the

•    Traditional COM add-in, most third party solutions will save as an msg file (more proprietary to Outlook, not exchange)
•    Office store add-in, you will be saving an email in .eml format (can still open in Outlook fine) 

You didn't mention it in your question but most business would like to capture the email attributes when saving the email.  This pretty much removes option 1 and option 2.  

Further to the above, you will find both paid and free offering from third parties... just google save emails to SharePoint... but hopefully the above will save some wondering...

I'm associated with OnePlace Solutions which has both a OnePlaceMail desktop and Office store app offering to do the above... but as I say we are one of a few in the market so look around and work through which best meets your business requirements.

If your only requirement is to transfer the email (and or attachment) from Outlook to SharePoint as an msg file then the sync client is the best way forward.
If you have additional requirements (e.g. to extract email metadata and store the values in SharePoint columns, email preview capabilities in SharePoint, custom metadata support, email documents in SharePoint, ...) then you will need to resort to 3rd party tools. Most tools use Outlook Add-ins but there are also browser-based solutions.

Yes, try out the link in David's reply.  It's very simple to set up the new preview for OneDrive to sync SharePoint Online document libraries.  I happened to be at Ignite and enabled this for a couple of customers soon after the annoucement.

It was  announced last week at Ignite that the OneDrive for Business Sync Client will support SharePoint libraries: https://blogs.office.com/2016/09/26/sharepoint-online-sync-preview-headlines-ignite-announcements-for-onedrive/

To support you scenario, have the user setup the new sync client to sync the document library where they want to store the email attachments. Then they can save a local copy in the folder for the document library. The sync client will then take care of "uploading" the file to the SharePoint document libary.   

I'm not sure if you have access to Flow with your Office 365 subscription level, but there were several demos at Ignite showing how to use Flow to automaticilly save email attachments to SharePoint.  That could be another option.  

Just to expand jcgonzalezmartin answer, you can save local attachments in Outlook 2016 to OneDrive for Business and Office 365 Groups from a picker.  It's not hard to imagine this being expanded to document libraries in due course. 

This is not yet possible would advice to use a tool like harmon.ie which interacts with SharePoint.
