Save email attachments from MS Outlook 2016 to SharePoint site
With SharePoint Online and Office/Outlook 2016 you have three options:
- Use out of the box capabilities, although limited in a few areas and key support at this time for OneDrive for Business only
- WebDAV which personally I don't like
- Third Party Solutions, and on this there a few and they come in two flavours
- Traditional COM / vsto add-in (desktop client installed on each machine)
- Office Store Add-in (app) which can work in Outlook 2013, 2016 but also on the web browser and macOS (very nice):
Note: If using the
- Traditional COM add-in, most third party solutions will save as an msg file (more proprietary to Outlook, not exchange)
- Office store add-in, you will be saving an email in .eml format (can still open in Outlook fine)
You didn't mention it in your question but most business would like to capture the email attributes when saving the email. This pretty much removes option 1 and option 2.
Further to the above, you will find both paid and free offering from third parties... just google save emails to SharePoint... but hopefully the above will save some wondering...
I'm associated with OnePlace Solutions which has both a http://www.oneplacesolutions.com offering to do the above... but as I say we are one of a few in the market so look around and work through which best meets your business requirements.

Could you point me to additional information about the Office Store addin. I've only found this page http://www.oneplacesolutions.com/oneplacemail-for-office365-sharepoint-online.html
I'm interested in just saving and attaching emails/attachments from/to outlook/sharepoint. Your pricing seems more competitive than harmon.ies.
I'd like to know what features are missing in the Office Store Addin compared to the MSI version.
Also, a big part of our strategy are Office 365 Groups.

I came across you post, and since it’s from 2017 you may already have solved your issue.
We have had the same issue and have searched for solutions for the last year without finding one. Hence, we decided to develop a solution that is able to save and attaching emails/attachments from/to outlook/sharepoint and teams. For small teams we made the solution free to the community.
So if you still looking for a free solution, you are welcome to reach out.

Hi Ivan,
You can reach the OnePlaceMail Office Store Add-in directly on the link below:
https://store.office.com/en-us/app.aspx?assetid=WA104380723&ui=en-US&rs=en-US&ad=US&appredirect=falseThe Office Store Add-in allows you to save emails and attachments, capturing both the items and promoting email attribute to SharePoint columns. It also supports Office 365 Groups.
In the spirit of this forum, I think it's best we take any further discussion around feature/benefit offline. Please reach out to me directly james.fox(at)oneplacesolutions.com to discuss the differences between the msi and Office Store add-in offering.
